Unexpected Blessings

My co-worker Christina has had a very difficult year.  She was pregnant with her third child, she had a car accident that tapped into her resources, she had problems with her foot that put her in a walking cast during her third trimester and she found out that  her brother who lives in California was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that was throughout his entire body.  Christina rushed to visit her brother in California with her two kids before the time came when she could not fly. On the way back, the flight was canceled and Christina had to tap into her own funds to get a flight back to Florida.  After hearing about this from another co-worker, I decided to add $45 to the $5 that I was given and share it with Christina.  I knew that the funds would not help to offset the costs that she had, but I hoped that it would give her encouragement.

I gave the envelope to Christina and explained the reverse offering to her.  She was overwhelmed and kept saying "I can't believe that you thought of me!"  I was glad that I gave her the offering.

About two weeks later, I saw Christina in the hallway at school and she thanked me for the gift.  She then asked if I minded if she sent the $50 to her brother in California because he was not working and his wife had to quit her job to help take care of him and their four children and she felt that they needed the money more than she did!  Of course that was fine with me!  I am awed that this reverse offering provided so many unexpected blessings.  GO GOD!

Encouragement to a caregiver from an ex-caregiver

My neighbor Donna is a caregiver for her elderly parents, both of whom are in poor health.  Her father has dementia, her  mother needs constant care and refuses to live in an assisted living facility because they do not want to be separated.  Their financial needs are great.

I added $10 to the $10 that I received in the envelope.  Donna thanked me profusely for the gift and said she would use it to buy Ensure for her parents.  Even though they are Catholic, they attended CBG at Easter and said that they will attend again.

thank you

First I would like to thank you. What a wonderful idea allowing me to put the money I got to good use. I received $10.00 and didn't have a clue as what to do. My daughter and her family also received money. I never thought that giving away money would be so hard for me. I heard from a teacher at school about a boy who's 18 year old sister takes care of him and how they were struggling. I doubled my money along with my daughter and family and we gave it to the teacher to help the family...WOW do I feel good. Thank you, Allie

Orphans

For the past two springs, I have gone on a missions trip with my high school, Coral Springs Christian Academy, to Acapulco, Mexico where there is an orphanage called Casa Hogar del Ninos de Acapulco. This orphanage is supported by a Presbyterian Church in Acapulco.  The staff at Casa Hogar provide for the 60 children under their care as much as possible, but they are extremely poor.  They are well fed, but they only get 3 pairs of clothes every 3 months, by the time they get new clothes, the old ones are so worn that they throw them away.  They have 1 school uniform each, and it is washed every night for them to wear the next day.  They sleep 6 children to a room, but there are only 4 beds in each room, so each night 2 are forced to sleep on the cement floor.  In these two trips, I have gotten very close to three children, Roberto, Olimar, and Liz. So, using my family's combined $30, I bought gifts for each of these three children and sent them to Mexico.

A simple neighborly request....

My neighbor and her husband occasionally attend your church and she shared the experience she had with the envelopes.  She was able to bless another person in our neighborhood with one of the envelopes her and her husband received.  She explained to me that she was at a loss as to what she was supposed to do with the other envelope.  And then it hit her.  She felt she was to give it to me to "pay it forward".  Almost instantly a name dropped into my thoughts.  My niece has a friend who is going through a really tough time.  Last week she attempted to end it all.  She's hurting financially, physically, and mentally.  I handed her the envelope with the invitation to go and visit the church.  She was genuinely blessed.

Going Big for Our Neighbor

My family received a total of $60.00; we knew immediately that this money was for our neighbor. Our neighbor left her home in Jamaica to work and help support her grandchildren. She has been struggling to find a job, so we were happy to give her this gift from God.

China Deadliest Quake

My Family of 3 received $5.00 each. As i was driving home, i was trying to figure out whose life i could Impact with the $15.00. So i prayed about it, and decided to match it and send it to World Vision to help the families that have been devastated by the earthquake in China. When i went to work and told my co workers what our Church was doing, they loved the idea and donated $70.00. All together, i was able to donate $100.00. I am positive that a family has been impacted through our generosity. Thanks to Anthony Evans who challenged me to Adopt a 6 year old girl through World Vision. I wouldn't have known about the opportunity otherwise.

opening my eyes

I wasn't for sure how i was going to give the money away I just thought I would wait a few days and see what would come to me .  Well that's exactly what happen I was listen to my voicecom and there was a story about a stay at home mom with 4 small children. She home school's them all. Her husband was a teacher and he was not able to work. They are not sure what is wrong,  but his brain was bleeding. The lady that was telling the story ask if anyone would or could maybe bring this family a meal to help them .  Well I thought this was a great way to help them so we matched the money we received to give to the family. I would be seeing the lady that ask for our help the next day at a meeting. I told the story about our church and about the go big story to a girl. She was so moved by what I told her that she matched what we gave. Thank you for opening my eyes in so many ways

Going Big

We each got $5.00 and we had sponsored 2 children; one from Compassion International, the other is with World Vision. We put the $15 together and gave it to Janet, from Peru, with the monthly fee. We then we match what we did for Janet and gave it to Mairos in Zimbabwe.

Men Should Not Live on Bread Alone...

My story begins after we received Gods allowance. I gave my money to a good cause that is already posted on this site. Although we (my family) collected services worth several thousand dollars for someone who was in need, I felt that my portion ($10) was too small.

I asked our Lord to guide me because I was not satisfied with giving something that I can get back in a matter of minutes, I wanted to do something special for someone; that same day I got his response.

I have a co-worker whose son was in a terrible car accident. He was in a coma for several months and until recently he regained consciousness. He is partially paralyzed and has partial movement of his limbs. My friend has been upset because she was out of work, without pay for 3 months and needed to buy her son things that would help him improve his motor-skills and coordination. As soon as I saw that she was alone I approached her and gave her my donation; my PSP.

At my work (American Express) I always sit in my cubicle and when there are no calls I take out my PSP and play it until I receive a call (I am kind of addicted to it). I used that PSP everyday but after I heard my coworker I decided to donate it for her son. I told her that this was not from me, that God had told me to help her out and to tell her son that God wanted him to get better. She was beside herself. She has tried several times to thank me but I keep on telling her that the gift is from God and that I had nothing to do with it.
