This is it! This is the place for you to share YOUR GO BIG STORY and to read about how others are using the CBGLADES Generosity Stimulus Package to bless and impact people throughout the week. Don’t worry if your words aren’t perfect. Just tell us how God used you to help someone, to make a difference in someone’s life. It doesn’t have to be long, just share your actions and your heart as if you were talking to your best friend. Thanks for letting God use you this week.
When your not sure of GOD answering your prayers
I have always been a believer in giving and ye shall receive and have always been a cheerful giver. When the reverse donation was mention I didn't even think of keeping it and a co-worker came to immediately to mind. After hearing the instructions I immediately thanked God for that revelation that I could be a blessing to this co worker. She is a single mom with two teenagers. She and I began discussing difficulty in raising teens I knew her daughter was getting into a lot of trouble at home and school. She recently had all of her laundry stolen out of the laundry mat which included her kids' uniforms. I added a little more to the envelop and handed it to her Monday morning after the service on Sunday. Not only was she grateful for me thinking about her, this was a confirmation of her prayers to GOD about belonging to a church and getting her kids involved. She follows seven day adventist, so the Saturday services were of interest. I invited her the next week and she and her son saw me after service. I waited to tell this story because GOD is still working. Her daughter has settled down and totally loved the church and her son did his community service hours here. As for my Co-worker she knows GOD is Good and answers prayers. She is coming up and out of alot of her personal situations. As for me I want to thank you for an opportunity to be a blessing to another person. I know that GOD WORKS. Thanks again.
My go big story
Me and my family combined our money and it made $40 and we gave it to a company whose owner is dying of lung cancer. We are very happy that we gave the money to somebody who really needs it.
we just manage god's "skittles"!!!
When I opened the envelop, inside was $5. At first I had no idea what to do with the money for several weeks. When I was on the phone with a friend of mine, who had always been there for me and my family in the past, he told be I wouldn't be able to get in touch with him because his phone was being shut off. I immediately went to the bank and withdrew the money he needed to pay his bill and threw in a little extra... including the $5 that Church By The Glades had given away to bless others.
Shaohannah's Hope
Me, my mom, my two aunts and cousin all received $10 each. Neither of us really knew what to do with the money, but at the time we had all learned of what happened with Steven Curtis Chapman and his family. We decided to give to Shaohannah's Hope, and pray that through this gift, someone is that much closer to adopting a child into a loving home.
The Bus Stop
My family and I were coming back from dinner and were discussing how and who to give the money to. My envelope contained $10, my husband's contained $10, and my 8 yr old son's contained $20. We were passing by a bus stop and saw a family of 3 waiting to be picked up and we stopped off and handed them each $10. The remaining $10 from my 8 yr old was donated to a Mexican orphanage that was being sponsored by his school (CSCA).
The shortchanged waitress
It did take a while to find the "perfect" situation to use the $5 received from my daughter who went to church that day, which she gave to me because she knew money has been tight in our home. I told her that it was not meant for our family but someone else. After church 3 weeks ago, we went to brunch at Denny's. Our waitress became extremely stressed after she served us because the table that she previously served left without fully paying their bill that was $5 short. The waitress said to her co-worker, great they shorted me. I knew right there after she went to the kitchen and did not return, she would have to pay that money out of her own tips or check. We wrote her a note and told her don't let $5 spoil her day and that Church By The Glades was taking care of what she was short and we were also leaving her a tip of $5. Although we didn't see her reaction when I asked her co-worker to bring it to her in the back, I know Church By the Glades Go Big made her day!
The Goodwill Truck Lady
My husband got $20 and I got $10. He talked with me and then we sent the money to the Women in Distress. (They sent us a lovely thank you note and thanks Pastor David, too!) However, in my heart, I wanted to give my $10 to the lady who sweats in the Goodwill Truck at Commercial and University every weekend. So, the next time I brought things to Goodwill, I gave her my $10 and said "Enjoy a nice cold drink and God Bless You." She gave me a nice smile. It's nice to help people. I am going to keep doing it!
STRUGGLING MOTHER
I WORK AT TAMARAC REHAB. A SINGLE MOTHER WHO WORKS THERE NEEDED SOME EXTRA MONEY TO MAKE ENDS MEET AT HOME SO SHE SOLD SNACKS AND BEVERAGES ON HER BREAK. SOME PEOPLE WOULD STEAL FROM HER. SO I DECIDE TO GIVE HER MY $5 DOLLARS TO COVER HER LOSS IT PUT A SMILE ON HER FACE THANKS CBG FOR BEING SUCH A GREAT CHURCH LOVE YA LOTS
Struggling through college
I'm sorry it took me so long to finally publish my story, but here it is...
I think it was an absolutely amazing thing what our church did by giving away so much money to illustrate how we should be generous. That is exactly what I intended on doing. I have a friend who is struggling to pay for his college tuition. I always feel so bad for him. Well with the $5 I got in my envelope, I put $50 more to help him with books or whatever he needed.
Thank you so much CBG for everything you do. I LOVE my church!
The Hard Working Gardener
I am sorry it took so long to write this as we all know life is a bit hectic but I feel I needed to share my story of what I did with the $10 that I received at church that amazing Sunday morning. Everyday on my way home from work at about 2pm I always see a man outside in this heat working so hard as someones gardener, now I dont mean one of those companies that mows lawns with those great machines, I mean a man who is thin as a rail (he doesn't look like he can even afford to eat) slaving away on his hands and knees pouring whatever energy he has into the job he has been blessed with. It is amazing how often we think we have it hard until we see someone else who is worse off. After praying about who I wanted to bless with this money I had someone else in mind until one day I was driving at my usual hour and saw him, God spoke to me and I obeyed, I stopped my car on the side of the road and walked up to this man handed him the envelope and told him that God loved him. As he opened the envelope and saw that I handed him an envelope with money in it for no reason at all, it seemed for a moment I had saved his life. He looked at me as if I just gave him a million dollars and said " God bless you! If we can just make the time to help others in need no matter what way we do it we can change lives , even just a smile can save a life! Thank you Church By The Glades for setting an example of how to serve. I can only imagine the lives you have touched through your generosity! Go God!
